Monsoon-proofing your rooftop solar system
Five checks that keep generation steady through heavy rain, dust storms and the humid months that follow.
Rain rinses dust but leaves streaks of silt along the lower edge of each module. A soft brush wash after the first heavy spell restores two to four percent of lost yield.
Check that DC cable ties have not sagged into standing water, that the combiner box gland seals are intact, and that the earthing pit resistance is still within limits after the ground saturates.
Trim any branch that will throw a shadow once it grows through the season, and log your monthly generation. A steady 10% drop against last year's same month is your earliest warning of a string or inverter fault.
